The Impact of a Weak Link

No matter how hard leaders try, communicate, persevere and motivate there will be persons who don’t fit and therefore:

Not everyone will take the journey.

Not everyone should take the journey.

Not everyone can take the journey.

There are weak links on every team.

The impact of a weak link.

The stronger members identify the weak one.

The stronger members have to help the weak one.

The stronger members come to resent the weak one.

The stronger members become less effective.

The stronger members question the leaders ability.

10+10+10+10+5 = 45

The difference between this team and great ones with 5 10s is like the difference between 50 and 45.

That’s a difference of 10%.

10×10×10×10×10 = 100,000

and this:

10×10×10×10×5 = 50,000

It’s a difference of 50%! The power and momentum of the team may be able to compensate for a weak link for a while, but not forever. A weak link eventually robs the team of momentum and potential.
